Object with Red, Blue, and Green Lights Hovers and moves over Catskill Mountains for 30+ minutesAfter returning home late, I had gone upstairs but had not turned on my light when I looked out the window to see something that initially looked like a large planet low hung in the sky over the mountain behind our house, but I noticed the distinct flashing of red, blue, and green lights. I watched the object for a few minutes when suddenly it began to move. It hovered, then randomly moved diagonally, up, down, sideways, only stopping when two other aircraft entered the vicinity. After the aircraft left the airspace, it began moving again. Also, I noticed that there was a halo around the object and trail when it moved, even though it was a clear night. The treetops beneath it also seemed to be lighting up as if random beams of light were scanning the woods beneath the object. I looked at the object with binoculars and saw a bright red flashing center surrounded by intermittent blue and green lights in a circular pattern. After watching it for a half an! hour, I decided to turn on the light to get ready for bed. I turned the light off and looked out to see that the object had sunk down below the tree line, then disappeared. It made no noise that I could perceive.I am a public school teacher, parent to five children, and a military veteran.
