The sighting occurred last night, October 14, 2013, in SE Ireland (County Wexford), a half mile from a residence at the foot of the Blackstairs Mountains. It occurred at twilight, around 8pm. I had made a small fire in the woods about 3/4 of a mile from the house I'm staying at, and was walking back to the house to make dinner and because I was without a flashlight. The object/light was glowing as bright as the moon, giving off a whitish/yellow light. It's glow was constant and it did not flash, flicker, or emit multiple colors of light. Due to its luminosity, I could not distinguish the outline of any craft, but it's shape or the light emitted was round-circular, not elliptical. It's size, to the eye, was roughly that of a pencil eraser if held at an arm length from the body. It moved in a straight path from west to east it did not wobble, bounce, or display pendulum-like movement. It was completely silent, and there was no condensation or vapor trail of any kind. It's altitude appeared to be between 5,000-8,000ft; shortly after the sighting, a commercial jet flew overhead at a much higher altitude this offered additional reference regarding the altitude of the anomalous sighting. It appeared to be moving 2-3 times faster than a commercial jet (to the eye, without regard to altitude); again, it appeared to be much lower and was completely silent. As it continued on it's path, it's size and brightness gradually diminished. 3/4 of the way into it's path from horizon-to-horizon, it simply disappeared; it could be possible that, although abrupt, it became 'invisible' due to its distance, the angle of view, and atmospheric perspective. The sighting lasted for approximately 60-90 sec. It was absolutely not a comet, weather balloon, or misidentification of the planet Venus. It did not appear to be an iridium flare, as I have seen several of these. Unlike iridium flares (which display intermittent variation in brightness), this object/light had a constant, even luminance. XX
