On Monday, June 3rd at exactly 10pm, I took our dog Bella out for a nightly (pre-bedtime) walk. The sky was clear, the stars were out and visibility was unlimited. I look up at the sky nightly during our walk as I have doen since a kid. We walked due east to the end of our road which terminates in scrub-land. There is little in the way of light pollution here so viewing the starlit sky was easy. While facing due east at the end of the road, Mars and the crescent moon were above and to the rear of my right shoulder. I was drawn to turn 90 degrees to the right (looking south) when through the pine trees I noticed a moving bright light. The light was NOT a star, meteor or aircraft. It was unusually bright and made no noise as it traveled over my head and off into the north-east. It was much brighter than stars and the usual satellites -- unusually bright. Besides the crescent moon, it was easily the brightest object in the sky. I have watched the skies for 40 years and never seen an object of this type before. It was not an RC aircraft, helicopter, balloon etc.There were no visible strobes or navigational lights (which are usually visible on aircraft in the area as high as 20,000 - 30,000 feet). I could not estimate its size or height as I have no reference but is was clearly high possibly sub-orbital. I tried to video the object with my camera phone but unfortunately, it does not cope well with low light levels and resulted in just a black screen upon playback (although I have kept it and may try to enhance the video to see if it reveals anything). I got back into the house within 90 seconds of loosing sight of the object and immediately called up the live tracking info for the International Space Station (ISS) as I thought the bright moon may have made the ISS glow with its reflection but the ISS was on the west coast of Australia travelling south east, -- in the opposite direction to the object on the other side of the world.
