Heading back from Horseheads NY going to Ithaca on Route 13, our attention was drawn to a bright orange orb coming across the sky from the west. It was 8:45pm and we were approximately a mile and a half past the Dandy Mart in Cayuta NY. The sky was clear for the most part. I pulled over, grabbed my camera and we all got out of the truck. As the orange flickering orb came to a point above us, it then appeared to stop. After observing it for another minute you could see it was heading upwards. It continued to do this for about a minute then disappeared altogether. The video I shot was done using a GE DV1 in 720p. The DV1 is definitely not good for night time use but you can make it out. Unfortunately, zooming in on it made the shaking worse so I zoomed back out. Though not a very good video by any means, it still thrills us since we experienced it firsthand. It was quite a site and is our 2nd sighting of a similar object in the past year.
