We were watching Guardians of the Galaxy at Mansfield Drive In Theatre in Mansfield, CT. My girlfriend and I are avid stargazers and enjoy the drive-in movies for the nostalgia and the night sky which is usually crystal clear and littered with shooting stars, meteorites, etc. About 1/3 of the way into the movie, I got out of my truck to look at the sky for a few minutes (we had already seen the movie the week prior, it was a good one). I noticed to the North/Northeast a much brighter than normal star. I had initially assumed it was a plane crossing into the horizon. I asked her what she thought it was and she got out of the truck as well. We both stared in wonder as the pill sized bright orange glowing object slowly trolled right over our heads and into the south/southwest sky. It was high enough up that we couldn't make anything out except that it was spherical and bright orange, and it was low enough to be confused with a plane. It made no noise that we were able to hear and moved very slowly. This was no plane, but we thought maybe a satellite? We followed it with our eyes for about 3 minutes. Usually if you see a satellite, you can watch it go across the sky if there are no clouds. There were absolutely no clouds this evening. Every star was visible above the Mansfield Drive In. Whatever it was slowly disappeared when it made its way to the southwestern sky. Almost as soon as I got out my phone to take a video of it we noticed it slowly disappearing and then it was gone.Since this day I have purchased a travel telescope for such situations that may arise in the future.Happy Hunting!
