i was prepared to watch the antares launch from wallops island from a friends farm in gamber, md. i carefully mapped out the exact location on the horizon to look for the launch that was expected on the night of the 27th at 6.45p local time. i arrived at the location about 10 minutes early and met up with a few friends, my wife and my 15y/o son. according to the nasa.gov website the rocket should be visible abou 40 second after liftoff in my area...but about one minute before at 6.44p we noticed a bright yellow-oragne fireball...ascending muchin the same way a rocket would launch it ascended for about on minute then quickly dimmed much like the mco of any rocket stage...barely visible during the last 10 seconds then it was no longer visible. to gauge my exact location if you plot three points on a map (bwi airport, annapolis, md and cambridge, md) extend the straight line to the southeast to wallops island then extend nw 25.2 miles from bwi the fartherest nw point is my viewing location. to gauge elevation it is best described by extending your arm fully and holding a business card long ways up/down the is approx the elevation change at 138 miles above the horizon. keep in mind that many of us saw this and it wasnt until hours later i was told it was scrubbed...we were all convinced we witnessed the launch...please let me know if you have anymore questions or have any idea what this could have been
