Two star / satellite - like objects moved and flashed in tandem, emitted beam between them. They were the brightest objects in the sky, brighter than a planet. One started flashing, stationary, then another lit up and flashed in perfect sync with the other. They were near to each other, like a constellation. They flashed in sync as they moved, so as to coordinate themselves in position. Then they lined up with each other, remained stationary and blinked in tandem at a constant rate.Then one emitted a beam of what appeared to be white visible light to the other. This continued for some time, about 5 minutes. I went inside to get my camera. Fumbled around with it (Canon 60D) and could not get the dagum aperature to go wide enough to see in the nightsky. I kept looking up to see if they were still there. They continued for about a total of 8 minutes and then disappeared.They were approximately 20-30 degrees in altitude from the top of a nearby FAA beacon tower facility that is clearly visible from my cabin, about 1 mile away. When I first saw this phenomenon, I thought it was related to the towers, maybe a newly activated tower, except much higher. Then the 'stars' moved, then I knew there was something very strange going on.It appeared as though these two stars were communicating via the beam.
