My husband and I were in the pool, cooling off, at about 9:30PM Friday, 7/31/15, at our home in Andover, MA. We got out of the pool, and looked up at a very bright object going by in a straight line over the treetops, but seeming to be close to us. I said--"there's no noise coming from that plane". My husband said "Maybe it's a satellite". But we both just stared at it as it went by and realized it was like nothing we had seen before. We are out side in our hot tub and pool a lot of nights, both summer and winter, and we observe many planes and helicopters in our area. This object was very bright--as if the whole object was illuminated. It did not seem to be lights from a plane. The light was steady, not blinking, and very bright! It also seemed large and oval and entirely illuminated. It seemed low and close to us. It moved steadily and in a straight line. We observed it for about 2-3 minutes. It finally left our line of sight beyond the trees in our yard, into the east or northeast. Then 2 planes came after going in the same direction and flying low. We discussed if it could have been a satellite, but it was too low. It was not a plane, because there was no sound. We live in a very quiet neighborhood, and we are sure there was no sound.
