Talking to a neighbor in his front yard I caught a glimpse of a shinny metal disk while facing E by SE my first thought was to identify the aircraft however there were no wings I thought the aircraft was making a banked turn so I looked closer and the oval shiny object disappeared. I worked in Aviation for 38 years and can identify most commercial aircraft and we live on the flight path to Louisville KSDF airport. Aircraft fly over on downwind leg before turning on final they usually are flying around 3000 feet as they usually lower main gear as they pass over the Ohio river. Sometimes aircraft approach further to the East about 10-12 miles away so I've had plenty of observation time and used location/elevation based on prior observation. The silver object had no wings the sky was clear blue VFR conditions the object simply disappeared after about 10 seconds of motionless flight.
