I first saw the object moving at a steady speed from the south, and took it to be a satellite due to its brightness and height. However, it appeared to be moving slightly slower than the satellites I have watched and it was on an arc from SSW to NW, where it became obscured by trees. The arc became a little more acute towards the end of the sighting. The light was consistent - no flicker, tumbling or flashing. The sky was absolutely clear - no clouds, with stars clearly visible. I regularly see passenger aircraft, and am very familiar with their paths and lighting characteristics; this object was much, much higher, on a different path with none of the flashing lights associated with traditional aircraft. In addition, I live in the country where it's silent at this time of day - I would have heard the engines of any aircraft passing by, as I do whenever one is in the area.If I had taken the time to go inside for my camera I seriously doubt I would have been able to do so in time to catch anything.Thank you
