At approx 2145 i let my dogs out in my backyard. i live in a somewhat rural area approx 10 miles northeast of weatherford, texas. there is very little light pollution and this was a cloudless night. i observed from my patio what i first thought to be aircraft landing lights over the city of weatherford due west from my location but after a few seconds i noticed they were not moving or blinking. i went inside and got my 20x80 tripod mounted binos and my 11 year old son. we took turns watching the object for approx 10 min until it set below the horizon. while observing thru the binos the object appeared to be much further away than over the city. it was clearly visible to the naked eye and similar in color to the setting sun. thru the binos the color fluctuated from white, orange, and red in no particular order. it was a near perfect circle and i can best describe it as a small much dimmer sun. i often look at the sky from my back yard at night, the viewing is typically ideal. i have observed many aircraft and satellites but have never seen anything like this before. i did not attempt to photo, as no detail could be captured.
