On the evening of august 11, 2017 while walking the early evening streets in campbellton, nb, can. on my way to check out the persids meteor shower, i noticed a orange colored glowing round light fairly low to the north west horizon. being an avid sky watcher, my attention was immediately drawn to this peculiarity. unblinking and as bright as the illumination of a street lamp and obviously larger than the usual planets or stars i watched with curiosity as the object moved slowly and steadily across the sky from the north to south horizon at an apparent altitude of 30 deg. and an estimated 3 to 5 km distance. the event lasted approximately 3 minutes before the light flickered out. upon reaching a higher vantage point around 30 minutes later, i witnessed a repeat of the same event ( might have been the same object making a second pass?). something about the objects gave me the impression that they were spherical in shape. a google search found an article that suggested it might be a phenomenon associated with the meteor shower. the object had no tail and made no sound.
