Filled out and filed at mufon hq from a letter sent in by a mufon member and daughter of the witness. by mufon field investigator 18809 on 1/30/2020 at mufon hq. the late witness saw the event in the winter of 1956, 1957,1958 or 1959. the letter can be requested by mufon investigators from mufon hq. the letter follows. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ dear sir or madam please excuse this snail mail report but after being a mufon member for more than twenty years, i an still unable to enter your website correctly. this is a ufo sighting from long ago by my father who died in 1989. the only importance of it is that it illustrates two things. 1. the air force was then investigating those who reported sightings. 2. the military was threatening those who reported sightings. my father (name removed) was a train director for the kansas city terminal railway from the early 1940s until his retirement in 1976. in august, 1956 he and mother along with me (name removed) (b 1945) and my sister (name removed) (b 1955) moved to a new suburban home in hickman mills, mo. dad worked the 3-11 shift. this incident happened i am guessing over the 1956-1957 winter or 1958-1959 winter. i was 15 in 1960 and this was before that i am sure. about midnight dad drove out of k.C. south along the two lane rural hiway 71 to 119th street(martha truman road) where he turned west on 119th. three streets of homes (several lots still unbuilt on the north) and the truman farm crop field on the south. about 2 blocks west of the highway coming up the hill he saw an orange "cigar shaped" light moving in the sky at right angles. he turned north on drury and the object disappeared behind a wooded area because of the trees. after going home he contacted a neighbor luther taylar who was up and had also just returning home from work. tayors lived on drury 1 house north of 119th on drury. luther i am 74 years old and the only family member who knows of this incident. this must have frightened by father terribly. i remember his being vey upset and he soon changed to a 7-3 daytime position as a train director. if you wish to contact me for further information you may, although this is about everything i can tell you. to my knowledge, he never again saw anything unusual. neither my sister nor i have either . my sister's son (b 1979) did see a ufo just over his car when returning from ball practice when he was in high school, in springfield, mo.
