UFO sighting over Greece NY (Rochester area) - red fireballLeaving a friend's home in Greece NY when my wife and I spotted something come up over the horizon on the east. At first it looked to be going straight up, and I thought it was a red firework. It straightened its path and flew directly over our heads, appearing to descend at one point and then ascend as it went out of sight in the west. Consistent speed, no noise whatsoever. The absence of sound was striking because it appeared to be traveling at such a low altitude, had it been an airplane we surely would have heard something. The light wasn't solid or blinking, but almost flickered. As it went directly over our heads we both said it looked as if it was on fire. This led to speculation of a hot air balloon but it was traveling way too quickly.
