My 14 year-old son and I were out for a fitness walk at the date and time above. Our neighborhood is arrayed in an oval which is approximately 1/2 mile around. While we were walking the northern half of the loop going south we observed 2 reddish glowing objects separated by approximately 5 degrees with the lower object ca 20 degrees above the horizon. This was in the south east to the left of Sagitarius and to the right of a radio tower on the hill near our home. The objects appeared far away. We did not hear anything. They moved in concert towards the north following one another . We did not see any navigational beacons. We thought they might be helicopters but quickly dismissed that idea because of no beacons or sound. They stopped moving momentarily and we dismissed the idea of a satellite too because the motion stopped. The more northerly object sort of "fizzled" out and became unobservable and within 15-20 seconds the following object did the same. There were no other observations after this. As far as our feelings and reactions, we were both quite puzzled by this. We thought about possible explanations however we could not come up with plausible ones other than military aircraft or helicopters although this does not seem likely. It certainly wasn't an astronomical phenomenon such as a meteor due to its longevity. We are puzzled.
