I saw the light from our second story of our home on the southwest part of reno near McQueen High School. We are quite elevated and have a great view of the mountains from our second floor. I noticed the light while I was walking past a group of windows to go downstairs. I was viewing it in a space between 2 houses that are directly across the steet from us. The light was definately above the horizon (last mountain visible which would be over near Verdi). It was not moving and was the brightest thing I have seen in the sky since moving here from Truckee in the summer. I first thought it was some special star that was bright for a day or two like some stellar happening. After I watching it for a few minutes not moving, I went to look that up on the net to see if anything special was happening in the sky last night . After searching the web for less than 5 minutes I went to look at it through the upstairs windows again, it had moved but was still in the same area. Initially I had thought it was just the earth's rotation but the move was to much for such a short amount of time. I looked throught the same window because it had no screen on it so I can always get the clearest view of the mountains, so I know my position of viewing was always the same. I got my wife to look through the window at it as well and we next went outside to look. That is when I noticed it was at least 5 times brighter than other stars in the sky in every direction ruling out clouds blocking the other stars brightness in the area. I know the moon was to my back but close to being directly overhead and was in a halfish phase and it kept the sky from being too dark. The light had a sparkling/twinkling look with yellowish/bright whitish color. We watched it for less than a minute outside not moving and went back inside. 3-4 minutes later I went back upstairs to look again and it was not there but there was a plane moving from west to north at the same eye level where the light was a few minutes earlier. I am not sure what it was but am wondering if anyone else has reported something similar. I would think the time elapsed would been between 10-15 minutes and I know I first saw it at 8:11 pm since my wife and I were both at the same computer looking on the net and we decided it was time to quit wasting time surfing the web after noticing it was 8:11p I want my report to be anomous but would like to know if anything similar was reported recently.
