We were out at a country house in the country side (Noordehook), Cape Town, where we would regularly lay out on the grass at night and observe the night sky, finding moving objects regularly, which we assumed to be satellites ! Being very familiar with that night sky, I noticed a bright star that shouldn't be there! I mentioned it,...and we both looked, and I said again,.."that shouldn't be there. right" My friend was the more experienced star person,...and eventually had to say ,..."no it shouldn't be there" It looked like any of the other closer stars! Then within 10 seconds its brightness tripled, it seemed to expand with the brightness a bit, then instantly faded to a pin prick, then blinked out! We were speechless, stunned, and profoundly moved by the uniqueness and unusual experience,...that we realized was a moment in time, that was a matter of seconds, to see and experience this together. When we remember it, its like it was yesterday, with all the wonder and weirdness! Any thoughts would be appreciated![Names removed/cms/tg]
