I'm sending this report for archive purposes. On summer 2000 me and my husband were vacated on Sifnos Island Greece. Our hotel was located at Kastro that is Mediaeval fortified village and popular touristic destination. Next to our hotel was a night club that was full of people the night of 12 -13of August ( but it might be wrong about the date. It was a couple of days before 15th of August). Our room was looking towards a terrace that had unlimited view towards the sea. At about 11-12 PM the lights on the room started blinking and after a while power went off. That happened to the night club next door too, from where we heard people shouting and making fun of the event. After a few minutes a huge light came from the sky. That lighting thing was as bright as day light making easy to see the smaller detail, but the light was orange and translucent. It lasted for a moment, a couple seconds. My husband who was looking towards the sea, said that he saw the sky turning orange but he didn't see an object or something else. I was looking at the opposite direction towards the land and I saw just the light, bright and translucent and every single detail on the buildings, the road and whatever was there. Some moments later, two military aeroplanes passed over the island in low altitude and in full, probably sonic speed as we first saw the aeroplanes passing and then we heard the sound coming like a huge "bang" sound. The next morning the whole island was talking about the lighting event and most of them said that it was all about a UFO that came from Turkey were it was chased by Turkish air force and then passed over Aegean sea where the Greek air-force continued the chasing. (something that we saw and we can confirm). Later we heard from some Turkish tourists that the UFO was first sighted at Afghanistan where it was chased too by US air force ( but this is something that I can't confirm if it is true). Newspapers and news agencies. TV etc never reported the incident. Recently during a discussion that I had with an American colleague, and while he was describing to me his visits to Greece, he told me that he was at Sifnos island back on 2000 and that he witnessed this incident too, describing it with great detail ( I didn't know him on 2000 and I didn't say to him that I was there. He brought it to the discussion). I'm not any kind of believer or something, but I thought that this was a very awkward coincidence and I decided to report it, just in case it might be helpful.
