It was about 6 to 6.30am and I just woke up and pulled up the blinds. My bedroom overlooks Humbug Point (nature reserve) in St Helens . The thing I saw I first thought was a meteor, but it was not moving fast and was in a controlled descent over the back of Humbug (maybe into the water). It looked like it was on fire, but could have been entirely illuminated , it had a slow descend. There was no noise. I lost sight of it once it went behind Humbug Point. There was no sound of impact so assume it entered the ocean near the mouth of our Georges Bay.. It only lasted a minute or two. The date could be a day or so out. It is forever in my mind and had to have this recorded. It was not a disk, but was shaped like a large church bell.
