I was driving south to my home from a friend's house in Kearney, Nebraska and noticed a bright red star-like object between the moon and a very bright star/planet to the west. The object was the largest star-like object in the sky. It was bright red. I pulled off the street and called my friend to see if he would confirm what I was seeing. As he was starting to go outside, it turned white then moved to the east. As it moved it shrunk and dissappeared. It had been stationary. I have never seen anything like it and I am a somewhat regular star gazer. There were no clouds in the sky and I noticed it immediately when I started heading south. At first, I thought it was a star or planet, but it seemed too red. There was no flashing like a plane or helicopter. I have considered whether it might be a meteor or something, but it went from being stationary to moving to the east. I don't know what would cause a trajectory change like that if it was a meteor. I was amazed!
