Viewed around 21:00 Wed 13 September. Initially presented as a very high contrail with length approximately the same width as a full moon. I initially wondered if it was a comet. Over a period of two to three minutes it doubled in length and appeared to be moving slowly across the sky, roughly toward me. When overhead, what had appeared as a single long, thin glowing object resolved into a large number of point light sources almost like LEDs within the area of the original object. The light points moved in relation to each other but stayed within the same overall shape. Over approx two minutes this faded from view and was no longer visible. The lights were slightly green to my eyes, although my wife said they were white. Witnessed by myself and my wife. Residential road with street & house lighting so not a dark-sky situation. Very broken cloud. No associated sound. Appearance throughout was of something very high in the atmosphere.
