CE-5, fifth category of close encounters with Extraterrestrial Intelligence
Lately people are talking a lot about the fifth category of close encounters. This category of close encounters has nothing to do with the normal extraterrestrial sightings.
But before delving into this new category of close encounters, will summarize all categories known as Hynek scale and extent of it (wikipedia):
Nocturnal Lights
Lights in the night sky.
Daylight Discs
UFOs seen in the daytime, generally having discoidal or oval shapes.
Radar-Visual
UFO reports that seem to have radar confirmation. Though seeming to offer harder evidence of physical reality, the vagaries of radar propagation often make the ascription ambiguous.
Close Encounters of the First kind
Visual sightings of an unidentified flying object seemingly less than 500 feet away that show an appreciable angular extension and considerable detail.
Close Encounters of the Second kind
A UFO event in which a physical effect is alleged. This can be interference in the functioning of a vehicle or electronic device; animals reacting; a physiological effect such as paralysis or heat and discomfort in the witness; or some physical trace like impressions in the ground, scorched or otherwise affected vegetation, or a chemical trace.

UFO encounters in which an animated creature is present. These include humanoids, robots, and humans who seem to be occupants or pilots of a UFO.
Close Encounters of the Fourth kind
A UFO event in which a human is abducted by a UFO or its occupants. This type was not included in Hynek's original close encounters scale. Hynek's erstwhile associate Jacques Vallee argued in the Journal of Scientific Exploration that a CE4 should be described as "cases when witnesses experienced a transformation of their sense of reality", so as to also include non-abduction cases where absurd, hallucinatory or dreamlike events are associated with UFO encounters.

Death of a human or animal associated with a UFO sighting.

The creation of a human/alien hybrid, either by sexual reproduction or by artificial scientific methods.
The term CE-5 (close encounters 5) was named by Steven M. Greer's CSETI group and is described as bilateral contact experiences-through conscious, voluntary and proactive human-initiated cooperative communication with extraterrestrial intelligence. But how does it work?, how can people contact with Extraterrestrial Intelligence?.
According to Steve Greer, CE-5 can be defined as follows:
"CE-5 is a term describing a fifth category of close encounters with Extraterrestrial Intelligence (ETI), characterized by mutual, bilateral communication rather than unilateral contact. The CE-5 Initiative has as its central focus bilateral ETI-human communication based on mutual respect and universal principles of exchange and contact. CE types 1-4 are essentially passive, reactive and ETI initiated. A CE-5 is distinguished from these by conscious, voluntary and proactive human-initiated or cooperative contacts with ETI. Evidence exists indicating that CE-5s have successfully occurred in the past, and the inevitable maturing of the human/ETI relationship requires greater research and outreach efforts into this possibility. While ultimate control of such contact and exchange will (and probably should) remain with the technologically more advanced intelligent life forms (i.e., ETI), this does not lessen the importance of conscientious, voluntary human initiatives, contact and follow-up to conventional CE-s types 1-4.
CSETI is the only worldwide effort to concentrate on putting trained teams of investigators into the field where 1) active waves of UFO activity are occurring, or 2) in an attempt to vector UFOs into a specific area for the purposes of initiating communication. Contact protocols include the use of light, sound, and thought. Thought - specifically consciousness - is the primary mode of initiating contact".
