I was sitting on my porch having coffee and looking at the moon, which was bright and to the southwest. Almost directly in front of me, there was a very bright star. I believed it to be Venus. The star was bright and fixed. It was about 5:45 a.m. The sky was getting lighter out.As I gazed at the sky, I could hear a commercial plane coming from behind my apartment building. It is not unusual to see commercial planes. We don't see too many though. Commercial planes fly South to North. We are in between Columbus, GA and Atlanta, so the planes we see are heading to the Atlanta airport. They always fly in the same direction. As the sound of the plane grew closer, the bright star began to move from it's fixed spot in the western sky. I watched it move North to Northeast. It moved in a straight path and moved fast. Not fast like a shooting star, but faster than a plane. The star was high in the sky, not close to the altitude of the plane. By this time, the plane is flying over my porch. I could see blinking lights on the plane, but none on the star that was moving. I could tell that the star was much higher up in the sky than the plane, but cannot give a guess as to how high. The star moved to the northeast but it also appeared to be moving upwards into the sky.Eventually,it moved past the apartment building to my left and I lost sight of it.The star was very bright and never lost it's brightness. It did seem to get smaller the further up it moved.
