Was sitting outside (3 of us) at campfire around 1am and we saw a yellow-orange light coming from the west crossing our field of vision of the lake. It was moving slow in a straight line east, then after a few minutes it veered north-east, started to ascend on a gradual angle, then accelerated (we are assuming because it quickly started shrinking in size like it was flying away from us). We first thought it was a chinese lantern of some sort, but the size of it (aspirin size) over the lake from 500ft out would have made the thing huge. The only other thing that made sense was maybe a large meteor that just missed the earth, but it was completed silent, no breaking of the sound barrier, and no fireball/trail/flash.
