These comments are made to me - the Field Investigator - by the witness to the event. She was driving south on Hwy 61 toward Burlington and was near the small town of Mediapolis when she noticed a bright light in the sky to the SE angling down toward the ground. It seemed to be a round object and it was about a mile away. It was traveling about the speed of a small airplane. The color was a pinkish red. As it came closer to the car, it stopped suddenly and hovered for awhile, before continuing to descend toward an open field in the distance. The field was probably a mile or so away. As the object dropped out of sight, a trail of smoke was left behind it. Then, just as suddenly as the first object appeared, a second object appeared moving in the same direction on the same flight path. It also descended out of sight. It was a clear night, but dark, and we decided not to stop and try to see where these objects landed. There were no sounds coming from either craft. And when they landed, there was no explosion or any other kind of sound. The witness at one point said to her passengers, "Look at this!" When she said this, the first object stopped briefly and hovered. She felt that she was being observed while it hovered. The witness cannot remember to exact time of year this event occurred, only that no crops had yet come up in the fields around them. The first object was visible for about 5 minutes and the second for another 2 minutes or so. Traffic on Hwy 61 was thin that night. There was a slight breeze. And all the windows on the car were rolled down.
