Two of us in Bacalar, Mexico. Looking for Persides shower remains and commenting on how the sky was overcast and the 'urban glow' of Chetemal was not prominent tonight.Could still see the milky way and Orion almost above and to the NE. We were facing NE. Saw a flashing streak, high and off my right shoulder at two o'clock, about three flashes in a second. At first thought it was meteor. It traveled in a straight line and approached the horizon directly in front of us in the NE, at about a forty five degree approach angle. When it was about a 'thumbs width' above the horizon, it did a 90 degree turn and headed to a point about 45 degrees above the horizon to my 10:30 o'clock position, while flashing about six times. It was then behind some tree limbs, but appeared to stay in place, but still flashed. The flash was three in a second, followed by two to three seconds of no flashing. The object then appeared to head directly away from us, going North while flashing three times
