About 8.20pm whilst driving home from dinner along the Northwestern motorway (near Rosebank rd off ramp) I was in passenger seat looking at the stars outside (facing about the direction of the Waitakere ranges) and I noticed one "star" appeared to be moving drifting in an odd fashion I initially thought it was just a helicopter or plan but then it disappeared only for a similar light to appear elsewhere moving in a similar motion. These lights would flick in and out like this over about a 1 minute long period after which I no longer could see them. Was able to rule out reflection as I put the car window down to get a better look, there were also planes/helicopters elsewhere in the sky at the time which were obvious as they had blinking lights and were travelling in straight lines. The lights I saw had a solid white orb look not unsimilar to a star. Tried to video but objects were too dim for the phone camera to pick up. Checked media reports following this but did not come across any mention of it. Possibly could have been drones but the nature of the movement and the fact they would "drift" in and out was strange (and suggested multiple objects)
