Mother and 10 yr. old daughter witnessed green sphere of light in the skies of Mallory, New York on 9/21/12My daughter and I were driving North on County Route 12 nearing the main intersection of the hamlet of Mallory, NY 13067, and thought we were seeing a shooting star falling. There was a small white light coming down from the sky and then it seemed to stop. As it stopped, it flashed (morphed) into a big, bright green oval-sphere. After about 2 seconds, it turned back into a tiny white light. We then heard a giant boom noise. It proceeded to move very quickly, and sharply to the left a little in one tiny motion and zoomed extremely fast down to what looked like towards the earth. We were driving on the road, and we could see it a little ways above the trees over the water. When it flew down, it looked like it went behind the trees that were behind the water. The green light that it omitted was so bright that it hurt our eyes a little even though we were far away from it. From where we were, it was close enough that when we seen and heard the boom, at that time! it was fairly low and obviously was already in our atmosphere. My daughter and I were scared and got very teary eyed. I have never seen anything like this before in my life. I would like to know what it was, even to know that there is some kind of simple explanation. I went to my mother's house directly afterwards and told her about it. When i left her house she called 911. When I got home and called her she told me that 911 had several calls about this sighting and wished to talked to me because they were very concerned. Also, when my daughter and I were driving to my mother's house right after the sighting, we noticed several cars pulled over. We assumed that they witnessed what we had as well.
