Witness Testimony

"I am retired Navy,very familiar with our aircraft.This object has been seen nightly when no clouds.Its usually very high in Eastern sky,emits lights of differing colors,hovers for long periods,moves in a zig zag pattern at times,always silent.Too far for binoculars,but once came much lower and I could see it was a disc/round shape,emitting red,blue,white lights randomly.The night I saw this one there was another much higher in the Eastern sky.Usually after midnight,but last night I saw it at 11:00 pm eastern time.It seems like its in a slightly different spot each night,as if it were working a grid pattern as in a search. I've always observed it from my back deck at my house. I've been watching this/these things for more than 2 weeks now.Right from the start it caught my eye,easily the brightest object in the sky,so it was easy to notice when I took the dog outside. I'm really curious about what it could be.Definitely not any aircraft I'm familiar with.Always silent.I'm in a flight path,so pilots in the area must have seen it."
