I wandered out my back yard, which is near lake Albert, and faces south, about 10.45pm, as I had heard some people letting off fireworks up the hill, and I gazed south east into the sky. I noted 2 stars that I thought were the "pointers" but I noticed that they had a strange red colour. I noted there were no other stars in the rest of the sky bearing this colour, and thought that smoke from a bonfire may have discoloured them. They were stationary in the sky at this point. They were too high in the sky to be effected by that tendency stars have to sparkle with multiple colours when close to the horizon. After a minute or so stargazing I looked back at them and they appeared to be moving. Slowly at first, at different relative speeds to each other, and then they moved faster. I called my wife who came out to look. One had disappeared just as she came out, then the other disappeared 10s latter. I watched intently and another appeared moved across the sky for 20s and then slowly faded. I'm used to seeing satellites and the iss but this was a different experience, and happened latter in the evening than you normally see satellites.
