I work as a defense contractor for the US Navy at Naval Station Mayport Jacksonville , Fl. On the winter night of Feb. 16th I was working as the 2nd shift supervisor for my dept. and had left the ship my personnel were working on and was transiting to another vessel. While waiting on the pier for the shuttle bus to arrive I was looking at the stars in the sky towards the west. It was a extremely cold clear night with no moon that I can recall. From the west towards the city of Jacksonville I witnessed a light at a high altitude moving towards the east at a high rate of speed as I watched I tried to pick out any blinking lights thinking it may be a plane. My first thought was that the pilot was entering air space restricted to civil aviation it being a military base. After I realized that there were no navigation lights blinking and that the rate of speed far exceeded aircraft that I knew of I continued to view the object. It had traveled to about to 75 to 80 degrees above me when it blinked out completely. There were absolutely no clouds at all that night and I never saw the object again.
