I was driving a friend home and had others in the car. It was dark out, but not very late at night. My friend lived on Transmitter road, which is very rural - a few homes scattered with lots of trees and forest between them. About a half mile from his home, just above the tops of the trees, there was a cone shaped object hovering. It looked about 15-20 feet across and perhaps the same height. The bottom of the object had a bright light on it and there were less intense lights encircling the edges of the object and were dotted along the cone. We drove past it and I stopped the car maybe a hundred feet or so from it, with it behind the car, on the driver's side. I turned off the car and rolled down my window. There was no noise at all, and everything felt very still. I could clearly make out the edges of the sides and the bottom point of the cone, although I couldn't see what the top of it looked like. It wasn't like seeing a random dot miles away or the blinking light of a radio tower. This object was more than just a light. We watched it for a while and then got nervous. I started up the car and we drove away. Moments later I dropped my friend off at his house and took the long way home - continuing driving down Transmitter Road and turning onto Gould Road to get back to town, opting not to go back in the direction of the object. The friend who lived on the road had never seen an object like this in the area before, and he was the most bothered by it - it was floating very near his grandparents home. Another friend suggested it was a helicopter, but there was no sound and the air was still. Sadly, the friend we were dropping off passed away in an accident a few years later, and I had moved away from the area. The date is only an estimation - it was a cooler time of year, and dark but not late, but there wasn't any snow. I was in my late teens at the time and between having the use of my parent's car and the people I was with, there is a window of time of about a year in which this event could have happened.
