I was putting up Christmas lights when I looked up into the Corner of the house to plug in a new string. When I looked up I was facing Northeast, and was looking past the Northwest corner of the house, I was on the west side of the house. I saw what appeared to be an object on fire in the sky coming from the Northeast. The fact that it was not blinking, along with the color, which was more of a cross between amber street lights and fire, kept my interest. I watched as it went almost directly over head, and then continued to visually follow it as it moved to the Southwest. It moved in a straight line. I remember thinking that it had to be low, because it was under the clouds, and the size of the glow would further indicate that it was not high in altitude. If I were to hold a ruler at arms length to measure it, it would have been about an inch long. Anything that low should be heard as well as seen, yet I heard no noise. I was intrigued to say the least. While it was moving overhead I was afraid that I would lose it as it passed over the tree in the front yard, so I moved across the yard, toward the South. I kept visual contact with the object until it went through the clouds in the South Southwest section of the sky. I love and study aircraft of all kind, and I have never seen an aircraft with a light that was this color. That told me that something was not right. As far as what I am feeling after seeing this....it was nearly 2 hours ago, and I still have goosebumps when I think about it. I have been watching the skies to see if I can see another one, but no luck.
