I was watching tv in my midtown apartment (7:30pm dark outside) when i looked out the window & thought i saw a shooting star. i quickly noticed it wasn't a shooting star after seeing several other brightly lit objects darting around the same part of the sky. they lit up and dimmed the way fireflies do, but they swirled and changed directions like birds circling. even when they were dark i could still see them. their shapes looked like boomerangs at first but also appeared circular (too far too tell). their direction changed from horizontal to vertical but again, in the way birds fly together. it was smooth and not jerky. a plane taking off from the direction of the airport was heading through their path when they scattered out of its way, and then they reassembled and continued swirling. i counted around 12 but it was hard to keep track as they all lit up and dimmed at different times. there was no set pattern or path to these lights. i went out on my balcony when i noticed them and tried to take pictures with my phone but they wouldn't show up so i used my dslr on the night setting, which kept the shutter open longer. in the photos i captured you can see the trails of light from the objects above the city. i didn't know how to feel about seeing these objects and tried to google anything they might be but could not find anything remotely similar or 'logical'. i hope that others saw these lights since they swirled for around 2 hours in the same area of the sky.
