update: 1/20/20 - just happened to check website where original pre-live sighting image was captured, and found another glow along the same line-of-travel... from just last night, (hi time) but somewhat less mysterious-looking. pictures #8,9 added at end. --- 1/1/20 - post-nye: while watching the below near webcam on 1/1/20 around/after 2:30 am pt (12:30 am ht -- since was looking for any final new year's fireworks) suddenly noticed a small seemingly submerged "oval-shaped" bright blue glow in bottom-right quadrant of view (in upper-half thereof, iirc) which over several minutes first moved slowly left, (paused a short time, iirc), then slowly back right and out of view, maybe more than once, (around 1 minute to cover same on-screen visual length as far breakwater, iirc -- est. about 700 feet out at roughly 0.8 mph, via running various sighting-lines on google maps), leaving no wake though normal white-shore-light illuminated wave crests repeatedly passed by unaltered (not sure now whether around or over) -- then probably fell asleep while trying to find more evidence or explanation. some hours later found the similar picture #1 recorded from a similar viewpoint (apparently the below far-view -- though witnessed glow was somewhat lower than in picture, iirc, and thus closer to camera). near-view: https://www.Streaminghawaii.Com/oahu-webcams/waikiki-beach-overview-webcam/initwbo far-view: similar view from viewer that says available 24 hours a day but at night shows promo video instead -- but found out later the many live camera views can still be selected. also, alternate 24-hour viewer of same feed, and the hourly/daily feed-snapshot viewer that captured the pre-live sighting. https://www.Marriotthawaii.Com/webcams/sheraton-waikiki/ https://www.Ozolio.Com/explore/hcou00000057 https://www.Webcamgalore.Com/webcam/usa/waikiki-beach-hawaii/10810.Html as the above links and pictures #1,2 show, there are two different webcam views covering somewhat the same area but from different distances, one far at an apparent 1700ft (the captured sighting found post-event) and one near at est 1000ft (for reference , the view where the live sighting occurred but was not captured; nor was there any beam as in picture #1) if the maps here-below are dragged, zoomed, scrolled, and 3d-rotated (best in that order) so that the url values closely match those shown, and each map-window itself is resized and positioned just right, then the results will approximate the near and far webcam views, as pictures #3,4 show. the famous statue and its red balloon-clone set afloat provide zoom-persistent markers for the sighted object's approximate sea-position and line-of-travel, though the hula mound may be a more accurate reference if memory still serves. also, in the far view, the blue balloon should roughly mark the position of the object in the post-sighting-discovered pre-live sighting captured picture #1. note that the url values will change as the map view is moved -- and most unfortunately they cannot be set just by url; nor with the place-search box, as the balloon-clone will be lost. note also that googlemap does not allow the virtual-viewpoint to be in or on a building, and this will force some misalignment. finally, since the far webcam sends its 24h live feed to the website of a major hotel, and it is still less than a month since the sighting, perhaps the hotel server department just might still have an offline backup left with some live video. near and far webcam-view maps: https://www.Google.Com/maps/place/duke+paoa+kahanamoku+statue/@21.27.65408,-157.82.75237,81a,35y,141h,79.21t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x7c006df4e5c129af:0x4633ddc52a688878!2swaikiki,+hi+96815!3b1!8m2!3d21.2822932!4d-157.8310083!3m4!1s0x7c007276ebe11ae1:0x8c1b0bb567c94087!8m2!3d21.273655!4d-157.826819 https://www.Google.Com/maps/place/duke+paoa+kahanamoku+statue/@21.2769585,-157.8302029,112a,35y,133.87h,79.15t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x7c006df4e5c129af:0x4633ddc52a688878!2swaikiki,+hi+96815!3b1!8m2!3d21.2768491!4d-157.8304725!3m4!1s0x7c007276ebe11ae1:0x8c1b0bb567c94087!8m2!3d21.273655!4d-157.826819 initial summary preserved asap, january 1 -- pictures #5,6,7: (originally also #1) while watching on 1/1/20 around/after 2:30 am pt (12:30 am hi) saw such a seemingly submerged blue glow move slowly left (towards the beam here [ref #1, now above] -- but there was no beam then), then slowly back right and out of view, maybe more than once, then maybe fell asleep -- before later seeking and finding the below similar image, and assumed similar alternate view for reference -- and now capturing them here from screenshots of still-open windows, as they just some minutes ago ceased to exist. local knowledge: [see update above] asked each concierge/info-desk below about availability of local nighttime undersea excursions. none had any knowledge of such: https://atlantisadventures.Rezgo.Com/details/149523/atlantis-submarine-tour-waikiki/?_ga=2.181025767.1113184302.1578090480-2081372729.1577935896 https://www.Waikikibeachservices.Com/about-2/432-2/ https://www.Alohilaniresort.Com/contact-us/ https://www.Aquaaston.Com/hotels/aston-waikiki-circle-hotel https://www.Astonwaikikibeach.Com/contact/ https://www.Hyatt.Com/en-us/hotel/hawaii/hyatt-regency-waikiki-beach-resort-and-spa/hnlrw/area-attractions https://www.Marriott.Com/hotels/travel/hnlwi-moana-surfrider-a-westin-resort-and-spa-waikiki-beach/?Scid=bb1a189a-fec3-4d19-a255-54ba596febe2 https://www.Marriott.Com/hotels/travel/hnlws-sheraton-waikiki/?Scid=bb1a189a-fec3-4d19-a255-54ba596febe2 https://www.Outriggerwaikikihotel.Com/contact http://www.Honolulupd.Org/contact/index.Php -- also waikiki station =end=
