The top object tended to float up, while the bottom one moved to the left. for a time, neither seemed to come nearer to me. a star and an airplane were visible in the background later. the airplane had a strobe light while the other two moving objects did not. i eventually lost them in my camera (i only had it a few months at that point, so i was not very good with it). the two objects went overhead and very slightly north of me. with my naked eye i made out that they were two triangles in shape: each with one lead light and two behind as they made their way from west to east. the first one had a lead white light and two yellow lights behind. the second had the same configuration, except the rear light nearest my position was pulsing slowly yellow. the first one disappeared over the clouds; the second one went into the clouds and lit them up from the inside. an airplane traveling below the clouds in the opposite direction appeared seconds later. in hindsight, it felt like war of the worlds as they approached me slowly and passed overhead.
