First seen as a roundish very bright object, too high in the sky to be on a beacon. soon became elgonated vertically, rmaining in place. seemed to become segmented. viewed with 7 x 35 binoculars it looked the same in sharp focus: very bright, irregularly shaped, but in apparently connected roughly equal portions. when the binoculars we slighlty defocused it looked entirely different, like a very regular sphere, with strands of light swirling across its surface. after about an hour and a half it had changed position, moving closer to the horizon.
