I went outside with my daughter to look at the moon (almost full, was very bright) when she pointed out a very bright 'star'. I watched for about a minute and realized it was flashing like a plane, but realized it wasn't moving. After observing for another 5 minutes I went to get my brother and my dad who also could not figure out what it was so we got out the telescope and binoculars as well as my camera. The telescope and camera were hopeless, couldn't focus in with my camera (kept getting very blurry and when I would start to record the screen went black) and trying to hold the telescope still long enough to focus wouldn't happen. But through the binoculars we could all see that there were three white/yellowish lights in the shape of a triangle with a red and a green light, almost pulsating, alternating colors. It stayed in the same place for a solid 20 minutes then slowly moved west. After about 10 minutes of watching it slowly move we observed a plane or helicopter fly towards it and then basically disappeared of flew back the other direction. I first observed at a 30 degree angle. Once it got to about a 20 degree angle it hovered again and within 2 minutes there were faint red lights all around it, if I had to estimate there were about 20-25. One would appear, get real bright, flash, then fade out. Then another would do the same. That continued for about 5 minutes all around the main light which just hovered, stopped for another 2-3, and started again for almost 5 minutes, then completely stopped. The craft/object then continued west until I could no longer see it over the tree line. This entire thing happened for about an hour and a half.
