Was standing at deer camp in the dark. Looked to Northeast & saw bright, bright lights that just appeared from no where at a distance of aproximately 5 miles. Became brighter & wider ( would guess total light configuration about 1/2 to 1 mile wide)moving rapidly to the North west.First thought it was 2 bomber aircraft going to Dyess AF base in Abilene. But no blinking lights like a standard aircraft & absolutely no noise at all. Also flying way to close for 2 aircraft. Suddenly disappeared for about 5 minutes, then reappeared about 10 miles from spot last spotted & back where I originally spotted the lights the first time. This time moving much slower than any aircraft could without losing altitude & crashing. Watched for another 10 minutes than "like turning off a light switch" was gone.My son & his friend were driving to the deer lease from Ft Worth at about the same time I spotted the lights. They were between Rising Star & Brownwood when they saw the bright lights . As soon as they got to deer camp they asked if I had seen it & what was it??I was in the Air Force for 4 1/2 years & a aircraft maint officer. These bright, bright, lights with absolutely no sound were not aircraft.Have never witnessed anything like this before in my life. Closest thing would have to be a meteor shower or falling star. But this was more intense & lasted so much longer.
