Orange-red light in sky, Stellenbosch, South Africa.Christmas eve 23:15 in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Walking to my car with my father and his wife when I noticed a bright orange-red light due south at about a 40 degree angle to the horizon. I mentioned it to the others and my father suggested it is a planet. I said it is not in the right place for a planet and it is too bright and deeply coloured. It seemed to pulsate but not in a predictable pattern. After some time it smoothly moved further away still going south and the light became dimmer until it eventually disappeared. We couldn’t explain what it could be. I remember seeing a similar light also on a Christmas eve about 25 years ago.
