As I was walking home near the Sultan School in Al Hail South, Muscat, Oman on the evening of Wednesday 14th January 2015, I glanced up at the sky and immediately noticed a circular yellow/ red light in the sky which appeared at first to be fairly stationary and then started moving in roughly the same direction that I was moving in, that is to say in the direction of Caledonian College. I ascertained that it was indeed moving by stopping and noting that it was moving away from me. It was not a plane or a helicopter as there were no flashing lights, only a steady yellow/red light. It was as high in the sky as an aeroplane coming in over a city to land. In fact this light was followed after about three minutes by a jet going in to land at nearby Muscat International airport. The pilot must have had visual, or at least radar sighting of this moving light, since I estimate the plane was only about 800 metres behind it at the closest point. What happened then was strange: the light diminished to a white point and then went out, leaving a grey oval-shaped form against the dark night sky that I could just about make out still moving away from me. Surely, no authorised aircraft could fly without lights on in the night sky. Feeling that what I had just witnessed was already extraordinary enough, I expected that to be the end of the incident, but I was then amazed to see no more than two or three minutes later another yellow/red light of the same dimensions travelling on just the same trajectory as the first, coming from the same direction and heading on the same route, that is to say, more or less over the Caledonian College and on to the main Sultan Qaboos Expressway. And yet again, as it reached a certain point in the sky the yellow light contracted to a single white point of light and then became grey so that all that was visible (with difficulty) was a grey oval shape moving through the night sky. Both of the objects - if that is what they were - dropped down behind buildings on the horizon as they got further away from me and that is the last I saw of them. To summarise, what I saw were two lights in the sky that were not planes or helicopters, they were not stars or the moon. They were moving, not at great speeds but steadily and as far as I could tell they were making no sound. They faded to grey as they reached a certain point and kept moving. Whether they were drones, balloons or some natural atmospheric phenomena I don't know. It would be interesting to know if anybody else saw something at around the same time. It would also be interesting to know if air traffic control at Muscat International Airport picked up these lights/objects on radar and if the pilot or other pilots reported anything.
