Went out to count satellites (and beat the heat in my trailer). A sudden flash of light caught my eye about where the handle of the Big Dipper joins the "bowl". Got to watching that area, and randomly a light would fade in and then out, and then suddenly there would be a bright white flash. It was moving so slowly across the sky that it was difficult to see that it was moving at all. But in watching this phenomenon for a good five minutes, it slowly traveled the length of the Big Dipper's handle.I jumped up and ran inside to get my binoculars, which took all of twenty seconds. When I got back outside, the "object" had completely vanished. Kept watching, but only saw a few satellites and shooting stars after that.I've investigated over 2000 UFO reports myself, and frequently observe the night sky. I've never seen or heard of anything like this before.
