I was on the seine boat hmfv western sunset with my father, anchored at the bottom end of ognen channel with a clear view of the hecate strait. i was in the wheel house listening to two troller fishing about 40 nautical miles south of me near the duckers islands. i heard one call out to the other "did you see that!?? almost immediately i observed an extremely bright light with a quite long trail go form the south west to the north west at a very high rate of speed it was there and gone in about 3 seconds so fast that if i was not staring out the wheelhouse windows i would have missed it i don't know how far away at was but it was only about 2 degrees above the horizon and appeared to follow the curvature of the earth which tells me it's altitude was closer to the earths surface than not.. after the light was gone, i listened to the two trollers discuss what they had seen and one of the skippers remarked that this was the third time he had seen the same thing in the last week. i was sixteen when this happened ,have never forgot it ,and now that i now suffer from terminal cancer, i feel i needed to report it finally.I would estimate it,s speed as well above mach one,as it went horizon to horizon in about three seconds
