On july 14, 2018 field studies were being performed in riverside park, grand rapids, mi. it was a perfect sunny summer day. heading south on the pedestrian walk a canadian geese family was spotted in the lagoon just shy of the covered picnic area. an initial count of 2 parents and approximately 8 goslings was done. since they were closer to the northern island a second count using binoculars was considered. looking down to pick up the binoculars then looking back up, a movement that took approximately 3 seconds, a large patch of yellow and white lights at a 45 degree angle had appeared over the family of geese. watched in disbelief; then a blink. the family was gone. the lights lasted approximately 5 seconds. looked around to see if anyone else was observing the phenomenon. no, everyone was going about their normal park activity.
