Witness Testimony

"9:35 pm we were 1/2 mi from home northbound on us-31 I spotted a bright red orange object traveling south @ approx 45º in the eastern sky. magnitude around -2, -3 star brightness. I saw no strobes, no wavering of brightness. traveling too fast for a chinese lantern. i dismissed the sighting as we pulled into the drive apprx 300 yards to our home, when pulling into the driveway a similar object, traveling approx the same speed & direction only closer to zenith was spotted = on about the same trajectory, i ran into the house and got binoculars, focused on the object and it seemed i could not get it into focus, bright red starlike center and diffuse aura/cloud like extension, about 1/10 - 1/8 the diameter of the sun @ 10x. Fujinon 10x40 binoculars. i ran to the end of the deck to get a better view when the object vanished from sight like it turned its lights out. no air plane sounds were heard. i looked through the binoculars to see if they were in focus and stars were in precise focus. I stood outside to see if any more were following for 10 minutes with no other sightings. Sky had a few light clouds but none in the area where the objects were traveling, moon is full. a high altitude (jet) plane was clearly visible traveling from east to west a couple minutes later at high altitude, both wing lights & strobe were clearly visible without aided vision. no other planes or lights were seen moving for 15 minutes that i continued observing. experienced stargazer & photographer. kim herrick"
