Live in the country not far away from the county airport. Am very familiar with the sounds, lights and configurations of many aircraft. One night I walked out to the road in front of my house and some lights in the sky caught my attention. It was the size that a military cargo plane woud be at about 1500ft almost directly overhead. However, it was totally silent. Also it had 3 white lights in a perfect equilateral triangle shape and one steady red light in the exact middle. No flashing red and green navigation lights. No flashing strobe lights. All of which I see all the time on regular aircraft. Also, following directly behind and in the same direction was a single white light about 500 ft. behind, also totally silent. What struck me was that their was no sound at all. An aircraft of that size at that altitude wouid have made considerable engine or jet noise. I watched them slowly dissapear into the east. As for my feelings, once I determined that this was not a normal aircraft, I felt pretty elated having been able to witness it.
