I had just returned to our cottage on Lac Barnes, Val des Monts, around midnight. The night was warm and the sky was clear, so I went down to the dock for some stargazing. Within a couple of minutes I saw it, first almost directly overhead, travelling west. It was not familiar. It was about the same brightness as a dim star. Much much too fast for an airplane. Too slow for and not as bright as a meteor, plus it was pulsing on and off. It was visible for only about 3-4 seconds before disappearing close to the western horizon (hilly terrain). I was puzzled because I am familiar with what meteors, aircraft, and satellites (saw 2 south to north in the next half hour) look like. I asked myself if it was something lower in the sky that had tricked me, but concluded that it was almost certainly a high fast object.
