I was in bed with my wife when she asked me "what's that?" we have a view out our bedroom window of the mountains. i looked and saw just under the north star an incredibly bright white light shining motionless and creating a halo through the clouds. i first thought it was a spotlight, but no spotlight could be that bright from that distance. i then thought it could be landing lights from a 0lane but the light was entirely motionless. then as if someone turned off a lightswitch the light vanished. i laughed because i literally couldnt think of anything that could be so motionless and so bright from that distance and then turn off so quickly. as i'm typing this it happened again. this time two lights appeared. and faded out. no idea what could cause lights in the sky this bright.
