Bright, direction changing light over Glacier National ParkMy wife and I were camping at the Many Glacier Campground in Glacier National Park and took a break from the campfire to look at the stars around 2200 hrs. To the north, at what appeared to be a high altitude, we noticed a single, very bright object moving from E to W at average speed. It was a steady, white, brilliant light, then after about 30 seconds of brilliant illumination, it dimmed and changed directions to a NW bearing. No flashing or colored lights were visible. We wouldn't have rendered the object unusual had it not changed directions so rapidly (an instantaneous, sharp directional change). The aurora boealis became visible a few minutes after the object had passed out of sight.
