I own a cabin near Colebrook NH, myself and 2 friends were opening the cabin for the season, and sitting outside by campfire, I was spotting Mars in the West, and Jupiter in the east, we were for awhile spotting and counting satellites, being that far from any major city, there is not much light pollution, we had very dark skies as the moon had not yet risen, I asked my 2 friends to come over to where I was, pointed out Jupiter and then above me, at approx. 75% angle I saw a brilliant flash, like you would if a meteorite had broken apart in the upper atmosphere, one of my friends saw it too, and we turned to each other and said, "did you see that flash?" The object that flashed appeared to be a satellite, traveling from west to east, It made a 5* arc and then flashed brilliantly again, this time all 3 of us saw it, after the second flash, it changed direction from West to East, to ESE, we then watched it for another 2-3 minutes waiting for it to flash again, It never did. But as we watched, it got brighter, then dimmer, then brighter again, over and over, but at no regular interval, we couldn't see a pattern, We then discussed what we saw, weve seen hundreds of satellites over the years, and never seen one flash, or change brightness like this. there was no sound associated with it. and we were all sure that it was not an airplane or helicopter, My 2 friends are both prior military, and have never seen anything like it. I grew up going to Pease AFB everyday when I was a kid, and come from an Air Force family. we cant make sense of it, and we are hoping someone else saw it too. Thank you.
